A GANG of drug dealers who targeted a Midland town have been jailed for more than 20 years in total following a major operation by police.
Nine people, including two glamour models, were sentenced at Stafford Crown Court after being arrested as part of a year-long crackdown on drug dealing in Tamworth.
Officers from the Staffordshire Police’s Serious and Organised Crime Unit carried out a detailed investigation into the supply of cannabis, amphetamines and cocaine in the town between March 2009 and April 2010.
They seized tens of thousands of pounds worth of drugs during the inquiry and uncovered a cannabis factory in Bloxwich.
Models Jennifer Laird and Hannah Zebedee were among the gang who were snared as part of the operation, codenamed Nemesis. Laird, aged 22, of Stonnall, near Aldridge, admitted conspiracy to supply cocaine and cannabis and was jailed for three years and four months, while Zebedee, 41, also of Stonnall, admitted conspiracy to supply cannabis and was given a ten-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and 150 hours’ of community service.
