A DRIVER caused the death of a friend when he crashed as he was giving him a lift home from work.
Arian Geci was convicted of causing the fatal smash after a trial – but the victim’s distraught widow says she doesn’t blame him.
Geci had denied causing the death of 40-year-old Coventry father-of-three Ion Gherghie in June 2009 by careless driving.
It followed a crash on the A429 between Wellesbourne and Barford, in which Geci was also badly injured.
But after hearing how his car had spun onto the wrong side of the road where it was hit by an oncoming car, the jury found him guilty.
Geci, 32, of Terry Road, Stoke, Coventry, was given a community sentence with 100 hours of unpaid work, and was banned from driving for a year and ordered to pay £500 costs.
