A 16-year-old boy has admitted starting a fire which spread and caused the death of two pensioners in Rugby.
The teenager, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, changed his plea after several weeks of trial.
Kath and Albert Adams, both 77, died after their mobility scooter parked outside their home in Harold Cox Place was set alight in February 2010.
At Birmingham Crown Court, the boy pleaded guilty to arson being reckless as to whether life is endangered.
A further charge of manslaughter against the youth, from Warwickshire, was dropped at the hearing on Thursday and the case was adjourned for sentencing on 13 May.
The couple died from the effects of breathing in smoke.
