A 16-YEAR-OLD Warwickshire boy has pleaded guilty to a charge of arson – mid-way through his trial.
The youth, who cannot be named because of his age, made the admission yesterday, during his trial at Birmingham Crown Court.
Kath and Albert Adams, who were both 77, died when their mobility scooter parked outside their home in Harold Cox Place in Rugby was set alight in February last year.
The flames spread to the couple’s maisonnette.
They both later died from the effects of smoke, at University Hospital, Walsgrave.
Two days later another mobility scooter was set alight outside a neighbouring house, next to the gas and electricity supply.
The fire was spotted and didn’t spread.
The teenager, whose trial began last month, had faced two charges of manslaughter and two charges of arson.
