Crooked tycoon gets four years
A CROOKED Burton businessman, who bought a luxury house overlooking the 18th green on St Andrews golf course after siphoning off more than £1million from his crumbling empire of companies, has been put behind bars for four years.
Paul Mulholland agreed to pay £2million for the property, which was £435,000 over the asking price, but was repossessed when he was made bankrupt just two years later.
The 56-year-old, who showed no reaction as he was jailed, embarked on a ‘course of dishonesty’ over a sevenmonth period purely for ‘personal gain’, said Recorder John Steel QC.
