No5 Barristers’ Chambers has once again consolidated its position as one of the country’s leading sets of barristers in the annual Legal 500.

Recognised as one of the most authoritative guides to UK law firms, the league table describes No5 as a set ‘in a class of its own’ being named as one of just two top-tier ranked sets on the Midland Circuit, with offices in Birmingham, Leicester, London and Bristol.

Legal 500 provides an independent guide to UK law firms, and its rankings are much anticipated within the industry. It described No5 Barristers’ Chambers as being a set where the ‘depth and calibre of counsel was exceptional’.

Twenty-six silks have been recommended as experts in their field, including Michelle Heeley QC, who featured in the BBC Two programme, The Prosecutors: Prisons, Drugs and Drones. There was also a name check for new silk Christopher Young QC for his work in Construction, Planning and Environment.

Head of Chambers Mark Anderson QC once again received a tier 1 ranking as a Leading Silk in Commercial, Banking, Insolvency and Chancery Law, and was described as ’tremendously clever, a powerful advocate and a very polished courtroom performer’.

Chief Executive and Director of Clerking at No5, Tony McDaid, said the set was delighted to be listed so highly once again.

He added: “While our 26 Queen’s Counsel who received rankings demonstrate a prowess and competence across a broad cross section of areas, it is also testament to our commitment as a business to provide quality services to all of our clients. We are delighted that our counsel have been praised for their skills and judgement.”

Legal 500 also describes the practice management as hard-working and diligent, while Mr McDaid himself ‘always comes up with the goods’.

Barristers are acknowledged as experts in their fields, with the set receiving recognition for its work in a variety of areas including: Commercial, Construction, Court of Protection, Crime, Family, Employment, Family and children law, Inquests and Inquiries, Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence, Property, Planning, Public Law (including Immigration and Human Rights) and Regulatory matters.

No5 Barristers’ Chambers has more than 250 barristers and 32 silks. Its reach also extends beyond the UK into the international arena - most notably in recent years in Dubai and the Cayman Islands.
