Varsha Jagadesham - Education

Varsha is interested in developing a broad education practice. She accepts instructions from parents, charities, schools, colleges, universities, Local Education Authorities and school governing bodies, both from the maintained and the independent sectors.

She accepts instructions in the following types of case:

  • School admission and exclusion appeals.
  • Clerking school exclusion appeals.
  • Special educational needs including appeals to the First-Tier Tribunal and appeals from the FTT to the Upper Tribunal and above.
  • Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) including appeals to the First-Tier Tribunal.

 

Varsha is particularly interested in matters concerning special educational needs.

BACKGROUND

Before coming to the Bar, Varsha worked as a researcher in bioethics for several years at a leading NGO in London.

She graduated from Cambridge University with a BA/ MSci in Biochemistry and an MPhil in Molecular Biology. Varsha subsequently worked in bioethics research, researching and preparing major policy reports on the ethical issues concerning: dementia; neurotechnologies for the treatment of brain disorders; and biofuels. She also researched the ethics of paediatric clinical trials and global health issues.
