Ricky Seal - Family
Ricky practises exclusively in family law.
Ricky is regularly instructed in care proceedings on behalf of local authorities and parents. He acts at all stages of proceedings from contested applications for emergency protection orders and interim care orders to final hearings. He has experience of cases involving public interest immunity and the Official Solicitor. Ricky also teaches the law module of the Post Qualifying Award in Social Work with Children, Young People, the Families and Carers at the University of Birmingham.
Ricky is frequently instructed in private law children disputes (including enforcement) from FHDRA to final hearing. He has experience of cases involving: parental alienation and implacable hostility; domestic and sexual abuse; the appointment of rule 16.4 guardians; internal relocation; and temporary removal from the jurisdiction (to both Hague and non-Hague convention countries).
Ricky accepts instructions in relation to all stages of proceedings under the Family Law Act including appearing on behalf of both applicants and respondents at contested final hearings.
Ricky is a member of the Bar Pro Bono Unit and a professional volunteer with the Birmingham Free Legal Advice Group at the University of Birmingham.
Prior to joining No5, Ricky was a paralegal and junior fee earner at Hornby and Levy Solicitors in Brixton, South London specialising in all areas of family law.
