Richard Gibbs Misconduct & Compliance

Richard has a busy practice dealing with matters linked to professional misconduct and regulatory compliance and has developed a strong reputation for the defence of serving Police officers as well as medical professionals and company directors.

Strong attention to detail coupled with an ability to understand the pressures upon those working in regulated sectors gives him the capability to thoroughly and speedily understand the issues in a case and to address the legal requirements they present.

He brings his ability to quickly recognise the key legal issues in any case to the field of misconduct and compliance and this means he is frequently called upon to give advise to those facing such proceedings. His natural ability as an advocate translates well into disciplinary hearings where he is a strong and effective communicator, representative and negotiator.

Recent examples of work in this field include the representation of a police officer accused of an historical conspiracy to defraud before the Crown Court. Defence of a police officer accused of Data Protection Act offences. Appearing at a Special Case Hearing to represent an officer to a tribunal chaired by a Chief Constable. Currently instructed on a private basis to defend a medical professional accused of misconduct. Instructed to prosecute a company director for breach of a fiduciary duty and the commission of fraud against his employer.

Richard Gibbs is happy to have a preliminary conversation with any prospective client with a view to seeing if they would be happy working together.
