Maria Mulla Sports and Media Law
Maria deals with all aspects of media and entertainment law. Specifically, contractual disputes, defamation, privacy and confidence, data protection issues, and injunctive relief. Maria was junior Counsel in the case of Lloyd v Kruger EWHC 2011 (Comm) where she successfully defended a 1.3 million claim in the tort of deceit for alleged fraudulent misrepresentations as to the quantity and quality of audio, and audio-visual assets. This required a detailed understanding of ‘master sources’, and the expert evidence which was relied on in the case. Maria played a key role in this case.
Maria is presently acting in a large royalties’ dispute for a TV network, is acting for a known celebrity in his claim for misuse of private information by a TV production company, and is junior counsel on a breach of contract claim brought against a major record company.
Maria is also acting on a ‘right to be forgotten case’ which has an international element.
Maria also acts for bands, and entertainment artists and is able to advise on all agreements (sponsorship agreements, partnership agreements, NDA’s) which these artists need to protect their position.
Maria is also able to receive instructions on a Public Access basis.
