Andrew Baker - Regulatory & Licensing
Pharmaceutical Law Experience
Practised as a pharmacist between 1987 and 2000.
Relinquished membership of Royal Pharmaceutical Society in 2009 in light of recent regulatory changes.
Since qualifying I have mainly been involved in criminal defence and regulatory work, although I also have considerable employment law experience on behalf of employers, disciplinary tribunals and general civil litigation. I also advise large companies on the potential impact of forthcoming domestic and European legislation.
Over the last ten years I have been involved in representing and advising companies and private individuals who have regulatory or disciplinary legal concerns relating to the importation, distribution and sale of medicinal and veterinary products. This has principally involved the legality of their business structure and methods when faced with criminal or civil sanctions by either the Medicines Control Agency or DEFRA. These cases are extremely rare.
This year I defended in the largest prosecution of unlicensed veterinary products in Croydon Crown Court.
