Helen Arthur Family

Helen specialises in all areas of public and private children's law proceedings, with a particular emphasis on public law proceedings. In care, freeing and adoption cases, and in disclosure and public interest immunity application, she has represented local authorities, police, family members, the Official Solicitor, and children through their guardians.

She also conducts private childcare cases, ancillary relief and other financial matters (including applications under TOLATA 1996 and Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989, and annulment proceedings), and injunction and committal hearings.

Helen also provides written advice in all the above areas, and drafts threshold documents, chronologies, case summaries, skeleton arguments, Scott Schedules, applications and letters of instruction to experts.

Helen works mainly in the County Courts, but occasionally appears in the High Court or the Family Proceedings Courts.

Helen also lectures at Birmingham University for their post qualification social worker course in public childcare law.
